The UK’s most trusted junior football coaching
We believe that all football playing countries need a stronger grassroots program if the next generation are to love the sport. While grassroots is the heartbeat of kids loving football, parents are rarely trained or equipped to introduce the sport in those crucial early stages, especially with such large groups and little support.
We Make Footballers are not just equipped, but proven at helping all children, no matter their ability, to be the best footballers they can be. We help our players achieve their potential while enjoying the journey.
Fifteen years ago we started We Make Footballers to provide best in class football coaching for boys and girls of all abilities.
It’s grown to 106 academies around the country, each now feeding into a local grassroots team and professional club academies when the time is right.
Over the years we’ve developed a discovery learning theory to make our training fun, but effective. With over200 players signed to professional clubs, it seems to be working!
The right approach
We find if you give players all the answers, they get lazy. They don’t think for themselves. They can’t solve the problem. We want to present situations in which the environment teaches them and they can learn continuously with no fear of making mistakes.
We Make Footballers believe in a combination of learning through discovery, guided discovery and occasionally an autocratic(controlling) coaching style.
Guided discovery will often speed up the process in which the player finds the ‘right answer’. With trial and error, we are hoping the child gets the answer, however it may not come. The guidance points them in the right direction (the right direction is always open to interpretation).
The company has 106 academies across the UK. The key locations include London, Essex, Kent, Middlesex, Surrey, Medway, Sussex, Scotland, and Hampshire, making quality football coaching accessible to a wide range of communities.
WMF are absolutely amazing in every aspect! Their coaches are friendly, professional and very helpful. They have a great structure for training the children to play football and always introduce new techniques and teach them new skills to keep them motivated and challenged. My 6 years old son has been going to WMF for some time now, he loves playing football so much that he wants to go to all WMF’s camps organised during school holidays 😊 It is a brilliant way to keep children active and off electronics! I would like to take the opportunity on here to THANK ALL the coaches for their hard work and determination and for keeping our children on their toes 🙌👏☺️
My 9 year old son comes here every Saturday morning, its a brilliant session run by a very enthusiastic coaching team who spend time getting to know the kids individually and focusing on their development and needs. Its also a lot of fun! My son always comes away excitedly telling me his stories of how things went from his point of view. Very highly recommended even if your child doesn't know anyone its a very inclusive set up, my son didnt know anyone when he went and loves it.
My Daughter started WMF at the girl's sessions in Twickenham, she has been going for one year. I am so impressed, the improvement in her skills is massive. It is very professional and high-quality training, in a really fun environment. I have to give an extra note to Lauren, who really makes the difference, I think she might be the head coach, she is very dedicated and really cares about the girl's progression. We have recommended it to friends and lots have joined.
